Construction Management and Electrical Project Operations Summer Internship ScheduleMonday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Duration:
Monday May 25th to Friday July 31st
Barts Electric is offering a paid summer internship for senior‑level students pursuing degrees in construction management, electrical systems, engineering, architecture, or commercial electrical project operations. This is a working role in which the intern will contribute directly to active projects alongside experienced Project Managers, Estimators, and Field Leaders.
Interns will take on real responsibilities across project coordination, field operations, and estimating while developing practical skills in commercial electrical construction. This is a hands‑on opportunity to do meaningful work and grow as a professional in a dynamic, field‑driven environment.
Students are encouraged to coordinate academic credit with their college or university where applicable.
Responsibilities Project Management- Review and interpret construction drawings, one‑line diagrams, and panel schedules
- Assist in the preparation and tracking of RFIs and submittals on active projects
- Document and distribute coordination meeting notes to project stakeholders
- Support procurement planning and tracking of long‑lead electrical equipment
- Participate in coordination activities involving BIM and MEP systems
- Attend and contribute to daily planning huddles and coordination meetings
- Assist with jobsite documentation including as‑built drawings, photo records, and field logs
- Support material staging, organization, and inventory tracking on active jobsites
- Work alongside field leadership to coordinate installation activities involving conduit systems, feeders, lighting, and devices
- Adhere to and reinforce jobsite safety standards and OSHA compliance requirements
- Perform quantity take‑offs under the guidance of estimating staff
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to support active bids
- Assist in assembling scope sheets and bid packages
- Contribute to bid review discussions including cost comparisons and scope evaluation
The intern will work under the direct supervision of experienced construction and electrical project professionals who will:
- Provide ongoing mentorship, instruction, and feedback throughout the internship
- Assign meaningful tasks aligned with the intern's skills and learning goals
- Support academic credit documentation if requested by the intern's institution
- Conduct a mid‑point and end‑of‑internship performance review
- Currently enrolled as a senior in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Electrical Systems Technology, or a related program
- Interest in commercial electrical construction, project coordination, estimating, or field leadership
- Basic familiarity with construction or electrical drawings preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication skills, a professional work ethic, and the ability to take initiative in a fast‑paced construction environment
