Position Title:
Heavy Equipment Operator
Salary:$47,840-$60,320 per year
Job Overview:QPS Employment Group has a great opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Operator position at a company in Lincoln, NE. This is a direct hire position.
Responsibilities:- Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, graders, backhoes, and paving equipment.
- Perform grading, excavation, and material movement to meet project specifications.
- Communicate effectively with crew members to ensure safe and accurate equipment operation.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Perform minor maintenance and basic repairs; report major issues to appropriate personnel.
- Adjust equipment operation based on terrain, grade, and site conditions.
- Assist with general labor tasks and support plant or job site operations as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings, including moving equipment and changing site conditions.
- Support team productivity and project timelines by adapting to changing priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of heavy equipment operating experience (construction environment preferred).
- Experience operating graders, backhoes, track hoes, and other specialty equipment strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Strong understanding of job site safety practices and equipment operation standards.
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions, work orders, and project details.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
- Ability to apply practical problem‑solving skills in field conditions.
- Work extended schedules based on project demands, including 12‑hour shifts and 5–6‑day work weeks during peak season.
- Lift, carry, and move materials up to 60 lbs. as needed.
- Sit and operate equipment for extended periods, including exposure to vibration and movement.
- Work outdoors in varied weather conditions including heat, cold, and humidity.
- Navigate uneven terrain and active construction zones safely.
