Job Objective & Safety/Security Sensitive Designation

JOB OBJECTIVE: To reconcile, balance, and maintain accounts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and City of Little Rock ordinances, policies and procedures.

This position is not designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is not subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Minimum Qualifications, Additional Requirements and Supervisory Responsibilities
These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related area; two (2) years of experience in accounting, management reporting, or auditing in a Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) environment. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT: None.

CAREER LADDER REQUIREMENTS:
To be eligible for advancement to the position of Accountant II, the incumbent must successfully meet all departmental requirements as determined by the Department of Finance. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee advancement but qualifies the incumbent for consideration for advancement to Accountant II, subject to departmental approval and availability of the position.
