Aboutthe Role
We are seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer, Navigation Technical Specialist who will perform technical execution scope associated with navigational system design, algorithm development, software integration, sensor system modeling & analysis, performance analysis, hardware‑integrated testing, and weapons system verification within the Theater Strike Weapon Systems (TSWS) and Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) portfolios. Anchored by the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program, the portfolio is undergoing rapid growth associated with multiple product lifecycle phases within CPS and several peer development program efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Work on advanced missile design, integration, testing, and analysis within a hypersonic weapon system program.
- Leverage past experience in weapon system and missile system/subsystem development and analysis to shape current and future program execution.
- Collaborate with program managers, systems and software engineering or engineering leaders to deliver component(s)/subsystem(s), designs, and analysis to programs.
- Provide programmatic direction to engineering staff and team(s), collaborate on execution, analysis, design/peer reviews.
- Apply proficiency in C++ and MATLAB to develop, verify, validate, and perform analysis; review analysis artifacts of others; assess data products and deliver technical summary briefings.
- Communicate technical results effectively and work collaboratively across teams, work groups, review boards, and technical execution teams.
- Support Agile execution of programs and projects through proposals, planning/backlog development, product ownership, and staffing coordination.
- Develop and review data packages, analysis, and presentations for working groups and review boards.
- Coordinate internal efforts and external elements (partner, subcontractor, peer prime) to develop, verify, and validate navigational sensors and algorithms to achieve weapon system performance.
- Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements across simulation, hardware testing, and full system test execution.
- Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers.
- B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience working on defense, aerospace, and/or space navigation programs.
- Fundamentals of inertial navigation systems (INS) and/or GNSS (multi‑constellation, RTK, SBAS).
- Familiarity with navigation performance metrics (accuracy, availability, continuity, or integrity).
- Understanding of Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) concepts, error budgeting, and integrity monitoring.
- Proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and/or Python for algorithm development and data analysis.
- Knowledge of software methods or standards including safety‑critical items and/or version control systems (Git, Gitlab, Artifact repos).
- Ability to develop and maintain navigation error budgets, covariance analysis, and/or perform statistical analyses.
- Proficiency with high‑fidelity simulation tools.
