Water Resource Intern

The Littleton Water Department (LWD) will be hiring a temporary summer intern to assist with water quality monitoring and evaluation, and the analysis of Littleton’s water and sewer system infrastructure. This position will work under the Water & Sewer Superintendent.

• Water Resource Monitoring – Conduct water quality sampling and water level monitoring field work at approximately 50 groundwater monitoring wells and 4 surface water sites located throughout the Town of Littleton.
• Water Quality Testing and Data Analysis – Test drinking water and wastewater for mineral/nutrient/organics content, enter and organize water quality data for temporal analyses, assist with monthly and quarterly water sampling.
• Geographic Information Systems – Participate in the development of online maps and collection of geographic feature information to create a comprehensive, up-to-date spatial database of Littleton’s water distribution and collection systems.
• Quality Control and Assurance – Aid in the development, organization, and maintenance of various systems that allow Littleton’s water and sewer operations to function as efficiently and effectively as possible.

• Valid Class D Massachusetts Driver’s license.
• Enrollment in a related undergraduate degree program.
• Some knowledge of GIS.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Dates of employment are flexible but anticipated to be up to 13 weeks between early June and late August/early September. Pay rate is $22 per hour.
