The Equipment Assembly Technician performs functions associated with leading edge probe card manufacturing assembly equipment including participating automated system replication builds to meet capacity demands; associated BOM updates, procurement prioritization and interface, parts receiving / kitting and all aspects of a continuous build cycle adding automated assembly equipment capacity. The Equipment Assembly Tech is also responsible to support all existing fleet equipment to perform upgrades to ensure system uniformity and latest updated HW/SW, support down equipment repair and preventative measures, and in short support the fleet primary automated assembly & ancillary support equipment.

This position will start as M-F 8-5 and will report directly to the Director of Mfg. Engineering. This Job may transition to a 3/4 CCW (Compressed Work Week) schedule in the future.


* Build automated process equipment from parts arrival through sub assembly, integration, set-up & test to installation and support long-term fleet management activities.
* Organize build area and support material inventory verification, build space & material storage coordination.
* Become a technical expert on the fleet equipment, hardware, electrical, software use, tool set-up / configuration & system calibration.
* Build electro-mechanical sub-assemblies using build procedures and ensure they meet the mechanical tolerances required.
* Build electronic panels: Sub-assemble & mount components, wire Power, IO and communication interconnect, test circuits.
* Integrate sub-assemblies to the core system, cable interconnect and system bring-up using SW tools & System SW. Also, work with IT to clone system computers individual control system ID's
* Ability to modify automated assembly systems process / machine parameters and create/modify recipes to functionally test new Automated Assembly cells
* Provide regular feedback to update build procedures, partner with development team mechanical/software engineers to ensure mechanical drawings and electrical schematics are up to date and software meets the needs of the process.
* Cross train to perform all aspects of equipment builds (Electrical panel assembly, Mechanical Sub-Assembly and/or Electro-mechanical integration).
* Ensure all equipment is built with best known practices and in accordance with Cal OSHA laws and regulations.
* Perform planned upgrades required for CIP activity, issue resolution & new product capability on existing fleet equipment.
* Support fleet configuration matrix maintenance for automated assembly equipment & Ancillary process equipment used to ensure the equipment is all up to date with copy-exact approach for HW, SW, set-up & calibration.
* Support to the Manufacturing Engineering activity by recognizing, prioritizing & acting on improvement opportunities, pioneering new ideas, and finding innovative methods to accomplish production goals.
* Support HVM equipment readiness for new products: perform equipment upgrade testing & deployment, support OCAPS development for out of control events.
* Acquire maintenance technician training and certification.


* 4-6 years of Machine build experience
* Have solid computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point; Auto-CAD & Solid Works Viewer experience).
* Solid organizational skills that enable clean coordination between multiple internal peer groups.
* Good English communication skills, both oral and written.
* In depth knowledge of mechanical machined parts, CAD component & assembly drawings.
* Use hand tools including wrenches, calipers, voltage/current meters, oscilloscopes and other various equipment technology specific tooling
* Familiarity with Robotic / Automated handling systems is a plus.
* Able to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation; demonstrate solid work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness
* Able to read, interpret & correct/redline system electrical schematics.
* Able to use hierarchy BOM structure to determine parts required for builds
* Working knowledge of addition, multiplication and algebra; statistics is a plus.
* Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills as related to equipment manufacturing issues.
* Able to work with limited supervision, is self-directed, and has a methodical approach to solving technical problems.
* Have excellent manual dexterity.
* Familiarity with clean room procedures.

Working Conditions:

* Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, or crouching for prolonged periods of time and working in a machine shop or clean room environment for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day
* Grasping or pinching and manual dexterity
* Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs
* Moderate to loud noise level within CAL OSHA Manufacturing requirements
* Must be available to work overtime and weekends when the job demands it - based on commitment to objectives
* Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements
* Work area has fluorescent lighting and air conditioning
* Moderate to loud noise level
