We are looking for an exceptional individual to work with the Maternity education team at Newham University Hospital - Barts Health NHS Trust. This post will be a permanent, band 7 contract.
The post holder is required to work with the multi-disciplinary team at the Newham site, working alongside the Preceptorship midwives as well as organising their recruitment. The post holder will also collaborate in facilitating the statutory and Mandatory training within the Midwifery and Maternity Support workers and midwifery teams; ensuring training is collated and reported at local and Trust levels.
The role has a strong clinical focus therefore you should be able to demonstrate expertise in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care; specifically in the use of NICE guidance and expert knowledge of key obstetric emergencies and fetal monitoring.

Main duties of the jobOrganise, deliver, and lead skills learning for preceptors and preceptees.
Coordinate and manage the preceptor practice evaluation process.
Provide expert teaching and support in electronic fetal monitoring and fetal surveillance.
Act as a key member of the maternity education faculty.
- Support preceptees in their role and ongoing continuing professional development.
- Empower midwives and maternity support workers to provide effective health education and advice
- Promote a welcoming, supportive learning environment across practice areas
- Review and adapt teaching and learning to meet internal and external standards.
- Maintain accurate records of preceptorship and junior midwives.
- Work collaboratively across professional boundaries to support team learning
- Maintain own clinical competence through regular practice and continuing professional development
- Comply with the NMC Code and professional standards
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of preceptorship arrangements
- Participate in recruitment and selection processes
- Provide first-line professional advice on preceptorship issues and implement action plans.
- Be accountable to the Head of Service for maintaining a high-quality learning environment.
- Remain a visible, knowledgeable, and highly competent practitioner and educator.

Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Midwife
- Post Basic Qualification relevant to area of practice.
- Attendance on a clinical leadership programme
- Current clinical expertise and leadership, with current midwifery practice experience, excellent intrapartum skills (including obstetric emergencies, cannulation and suturing), and advanced electronic fetal monitoring and interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrate clinical leadership skills
- Excellent electronic fetal monitoring and interpretation skills
- Ability to work both in a team and individually
