General Description
University College London (UCL) is recruiting a Research Fellow in Health Data Science to join a leading research team focused on leveraging large-scale health data to address critical challenges in public health and clinical research. This role is situated within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to innovative projects that integrate data science, epidemiology, and healthcare research.

The successful candidate will work on the analysis of complex health datasets, including electronic health records and linked population data, to generate insights into disease patterns, healthcare delivery, and outcomes. The role involves developing and applying advanced statistical and computational methods, including machine learning approaches, to support high-impact research.

The postholder will collaborate with clinicians, statisticians, and data scientists across UCL and partner institutions, contributing to study design, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. Responsibilities also include producing high-quality academic publications, presenting findings at conferences, and supporting grant applications. The role offers significant opportunities for professional development within a globally recognised academic institution.

Eligibility Criteria

  • PhD in a relevant discipline such as health data science, epidemiology, statistics, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience working with large-scale health or biomedical datasets
  • Demonstrated track record of academic research and publication

Required Expertise/Skills

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as R, Python, or similar
  • Experience with statistical modelling and machine learning techniques
  • Ability to manage and analyse complex datasets, including data linkage
  • Knowledge of health data governance, ethics, and data security
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

Salary Details
£41,374 to £49,421 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance
