Role Overview
Senior Research Scientist – Payments & Partnerships Data Science & Engineering team.
Location:
Los Gatos, CA or Remote.
In this role you will develop, deploy, and refine machine learning models that improve member experience and efficiency for billions of payments transactions each year. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of these models—from research and experimentation to production rollout and real‑time fraud prevention in a highly dynamic environment.
Responsibilities- Develop high‑impact ML models in Payments and Growth and partner with Payments leads to identify high‑value applications.
- Collaborate closely with scientists and engineers to translate business intuition into end‑to‑end data‑driven solutions at scale.
- Design and run offline experiments and online A/B tests to validate model performance in production systems.
- Co‑ordinate with the Machine Learning Platform team to improve infrastructure for developing and deploying ML models.
- Provide thought leadership and partnership across cross‑functional ML initiatives, spotting gaps and innovating better solutions.
- Deep experience in end‑to‑end ML with a strong track record of deploying production solutions.
- Expertise in ML/DL frameworks such as scikit‑learn, Keras, PyTorch, or Tensor Flow.
- Excellent software engineering skills in multiple languages, e.g., Scala, Java, and Python.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, able to influence stakeholders and build credibility through clear judgment.
- PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is a plus.
- Knowledge of payments technology and ecosystem is a plus.
- Rapid learning ability and a bias to action in a dynamic environment.
- Innovation and partnership on a global scale, navigating the balance of technical rigor with business requirements.
The compensation for this role is a range of $170,000 – $720,000 in annual salary. Salary and stock options can be allocated at your discretion over the course of the year.
