Overview

Amentum is in seeking a qualified Avionic/Electronic Bench Technician III to support our operations at Naval Air Station in New Orleans, LA.

Responsibilities

Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Avionic Test Equipment. Solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications; uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, analyzes, diagnosis and repairs Avionic Test Equipment using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.

Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers  manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering changes. Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.

Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. This position may provide technical guidance to lower level technicians. This technician also does the following: disassembles and assembles malfunctioning test equipment accessories and components, removes, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion. This technician performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Avionic Test Equipment, inspects, tests, and operates Test Equipment to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation, diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.

This technician stencils and marks Avionic Test Equipment in accordance with technical publications, stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations. This technician practices good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety at all times.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years  experience in I-level avionics maintenance.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Navy Class A school for Aviation Electricians or Aviation Electronics Technicians, or USMC/USCG equivalent.
  • Navy Class C school in electrical or electronics repair (5 years  I-level experience may be substituted for the Class "C" school).
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance for issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC).
