An established and growing organization is seeking a Construction Accountant to support project-based accounting, financial reporting, and job cost analysis. This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional with approximately two years of experience who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable communicating with both finance and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with job cost accounting, including tracking project expenses, budgets, and cost allocations
- Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly close support
- Monitor project billing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition in accordance with company policies
- Review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper coding to projects and cost categories
- Support accounts payable and subcontractor payment processing, including lien waivers and compliance documentation
- Maintain organized project financial records and supporting documentation
- Partner with project managers and operations teams to provide financial updates and cost insights
- Assist with financial reporting, audit support, and special projects as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- ~2 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, project-based, or job-cost environments
- Basic understanding of job costing, WIP, and construction billing concepts
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting or construction ERP systems
- Comfortable communicator who can collaborate with both accounting and field/operations teams
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
