Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer, Field Engineering

• Provide full life‑cycle support to AWS data centers, from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
• Support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
• Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design‑solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency and sustainability.
• Interface with internal teams (operations, design engineering, server hardware, environmental health & safety) to promote consistency and reliability.
• Develop innovative solutions for AWS data centers.
• Manage concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
• Initiate and lead engineering audits, including on‑site visits; produce risk reports with recommended mitigations.
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects; support construction, commissioning, and turnover.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ cumulative years of experience with industrial, municipal, or commercial engineering (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil/gas facilities).

• Basic understanding of mechanical and/or electrical equipment/design related to data centers (e.g., UPS, diesel generators, switch gear, power distribution units, VFDs, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, fans, air economizers, water treatment).
• Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.
• Experience as resident engineer or hands‑on (in the field) design consultant or owner’s engineer.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, submittal documents, and applicable building codes.
• Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment/mass production.
• Data analytics skills, data querying skills/language, scripting, and comfort with working in large volumes of data.

Base salary range:  –  USD annually (USA, TX, Lubbock). Compensation includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and comprehensive benefits (health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave).
