Job Overview

Amarillo, TX – Project Lead for control systems projects.

What will you do?
  • Plan, implement, and complete control systems projects including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Manage overall financial results of projects, including costs, billings, and collections, ensuring profitability.
  • Actively pursue and manage change orders to enhance customer satisfaction and project scope.
  • Coordinate communication with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout all phases of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements and uphold the highest safety and ethical standards.
  • Provide technical direction, mentoring, and assistance to technicians, installers, designers, and subcontractors.
  • Manage procurement of materials, subcontractor payments, and project budgeting and scheduling.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation of system functionality; resolve any issues with subcontractors.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate project as‑built and commissioning documentation.
  • Handle warranty processes, including sending warranty letters upon substantial completion.
  • Provide on‑site training for owner/operators and produce manuals for system operation.
  • Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Attend job progress meetings and communicate project status, forecasts, and financial metrics to management.
How will you do it?
  • Complete typical installation hardware design and software programming using established standards.
  • Communicate design and operation details to customers, staff, and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate contractual scope of work and the impact of client‑issued bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes.
  • Manage selection, ordering, budgeting, and delivery scheduling of materials.
  • Coordinate procurement and secure pricing and availability from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Oversee subcontractor payment and billing processes.
  • Ensure installation aligns with company literature and project requirements.
  • Validate system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and others.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure completion of warranty processes.
  • Coach and mentor technical team members throughout the project lifecycle.
What we look for
  • Technical Associate’s Degree with two years of field experience or four years of equivalent HVAC industry experience.
  • Ability to service the Amarillo area.
  • Hands‑on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical material to non‑technical audiences.
  • Independent work capability and good judgment.
  • Proficiency with personal computers.
  • Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.
  • Preferred: knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $76,000 – $110,000 (dependent on experience, education, and market data).
