Maintenance Shop Technician

Position Summary

With direct supervision from a Lead Technician, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician A performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies (control, hydraulic, and electrical systems), air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems. • Maintain advanced knowledge and strong skill proficiency in vehicle components and systems to perform complex repair and maintenance functions on-site and on the road.
• Perform chassis component repair and maintenance.
• Repair refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems, and air and hydraulic braking systems.
• Conduct engine repair and diagnostics, with complete understanding of diesel fuel systems and diagnostics.
• Repair and troubleshoot suspension, drivetrain and steering systems.
• Diagnose and repair heating and air‑conditioning systems.
• Diagnose after‑treatment systems, including Regen, and complete related diagnostics.
• Identify electrical concerns using scan tools.
• Perform line maintenance, welding, and fabrication; identify source of malfunctions using electronic tools.
• Complete applicable company training programs and perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose multi‑system issues and consistently display technical expertise.
• 5–7 years of experience as a technician working on heavy‑duty trucks.
• Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some of the following systems: suspensions & steering, general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions.
• ASE Heavy‑Truck certifications (T1–T8) are a plus but not required.
• LNG and/or CNG experience is a plus but not required.
• Class
  
  B or higher commercial driver’s license is a plus but not required.
