Operations Manager, Environmental Compliance
An opportunity has arisen for a Wayleaves Specialist based at Ludlow depot. Your main duties and responsibilities include negotiating complex consents, wayleave, easements, and agreements in respect of the location of distribution assets, settling significant damage claims, and designing, surveying, and preparing specifications for major overhead line schemes. You may also support the tree‑cutting program and identify training needs for yourself and other team members.
This role follows a hybrid working approach – office and home – which can be considered after initial training and subject to business need.
Main Responsibilities- Negotiate complex consents, wayleaves, easements and agreements concerning distribution assets.
- Solve significant damage claims.
- Assess impact of work on customers, advising affected customers.
- Resolve customer complaints directly where possible.
- Investigate and report on estate‑related matters.
- Exercise leadership, introduce new techniques and methods.
- Train staff on wayleaves, easements, consents and agreements.
- Stay updated on estate development.
- Assess site risks and take action to mitigate.
- Report accidents, injuries, property damage or near misses.
- Identify improvement opportunities and recommend change.
- Issue work to contractors and approve daily work sheets.
- Conduct quality and compliance checks on contractor work.
- Proficient negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication with customers, landowners and local authorities.
- Understanding of overhead line construction and underground cable installation.
- Appreciation of the distribution network.
- Familiarity with deeds, wayleaves and statutory consent legislation.
- Experience with geographic mapping and record maintenance.
- Valid full driving licence and ability to travel across the area.
