Job Overview
The Pipe Foreman will assist in the supervision of craft activities to assure optimum productivity and construction compliance. The Pipe Foreman will supervise the lay out, assembly and installation of various sizes and types of Underground Utilities. The Pipe Foreman will study project specifications with Pipe Superintendent to plan sequencing and schedule for pipe installation.
Key Duties- Coordinates and supervises daily activities of a 2 – 7 person crew.
- Utilizes heavy equipment to excavate, install and backfill Underground Pipe.
- Sequences pipe installation to reduce interference with other project activities and the public.
- Continually inspects work site, surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.
- Responsible for crew safety. Establishes safe work environment that complies with the Company safety program.
- Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions; assures proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Analyzes job cost reports to ensure production is within budget.
- Reviews and approves employee time reporting.
- Maintains professional relationship with Owner.
- Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
- General:

Education and Experience:
This position typically is not an entry‑level job; it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Pipe Foreman. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Must understand work directions and communicate effectively with management, fellow employees and Owner. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience required. Valid Florida Driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required.
Constant physical effort including standing is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required. Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with hand‑power tools. Ability to lift and carry on a frequent basis at least 50 pounds and sometimes as much as 90 pounds.
Manual dexterity to hand‑carry generators, lumber and other construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools. Physical dexterity involving stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. Maintain constant alertness to multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including other employees, contractors, stationary equipment, and mobile equipment. Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions. Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 15 feet in depth, using ladders or crawling as required. Sufficient skill and visual acuity under varying degrees of light, darkness, and weather conditions to provide direction and flagging for operators of cranes with rated capacities up to 300 tons.
Environment
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Work environment periodically exposes employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust typical of construction projects. Employees regularly work near heavy equipment and moving machinery. Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed concrete.
