We are seeking a diligent and detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will excel in delivering precise and timely accounting and job‑costing support for both field operations and office management. This role demands a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to managing job costing, labor cost analysis, fixed asset accounting, and inventory tracking. The successful candidate will also play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of month‑end and year‑end close processes in collaboration with the Controller.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile job cost ledgers, capturing all direct and indirect costs accurately.
  • Analyze payroll and labor data, identifying variances and recommending actions to enhance job‑level margins.
  • Track and reconcile materials inventory, ensuring proper cost application to jobs.
  • Review and validate job‑level revenue and costs, resolving any discrepancies to ensure gross profit accuracy.
  • Manage the fixed asset register, including capital expenditures, asset additions/disposals, and depreciation calculations.
  • Prepare and post month‑end journal entries and reconciliations to support a timely financial close.
  • Assist with year‑end close and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and controls.
  • Coordinate with the Controller in Selma, traveling as necessary for meetings and financial activities.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and prepare executive summaries as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on job costing in industries such as construction, manufacturing, or contracting.
  • Proficient in general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and close processes.
  • Experience with fixed asset management and depreciation.
  • Proficient in inventory tracking and cost application to jobs.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build and troubleshoot spreadsheets and conduct variance analysis.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems for job costing; experience with Sage or similar is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both field staff and management.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience supporting external audits is preferred.
