Position Overview

Value Engineer & Project Risk Management Lead to assist the Value Engineering/Risk Director in developing strategic visions, tactical plans, managing workshare, project assignments, and providing direct project support for VE workshops, cost and schedule risk management workshops, and related assignments nationwide.

In addition to core project support, the role engages with other Business Groups, Market Sectors, and Business Classes to meet client needs and contributes to business development efforts, including proposal support, staffing assignments, sub‑consultant identification, and other duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Value Engineering/Risk Director in strategic vision and tactical planning.

• Manage workshare and project assignments.

• Lead VE workshops and cost and schedule risk management workshops across national projects.

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support client project needs.

• Participate in business development activities, including proposal development, staffing, subcontractor selection, and related tasks.

• Provide end‑to‑end project support across all project development phases.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering registration (PE)
  • Certified Value Specialist (CVS) with at least 5 years of experience leading VE workshops for major infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining client relationships with public agencies or private entities
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading cost and schedule risk analysis workshops or value engineering services for major infrastructure projects
  • Experience managing strategic marketing programs
  • Experience managing a wide range of client relationships and project pursuits
  • Active involvement in industry associations and a visible profile within transportation and key markets
  • Ability to work cooperatively with client managers, technical directors, business group directors, and operations staff
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 75% of the time
Required Qualifications
  • Certified Value Specialist (CVS) with 6+ years leading VE workshops for major infrastructure projects or a PE license with 6+ years leading CSRA workshops
  • Track record of maintaining client relationships with public agencies or private entities
  • Experience developing and managing strategic marketing programs
  • Experience managing a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits
  • Experience with industry associations to maintain a visible profile in transportation and other key markets
  • Ability to work collaboratively with client managers, technical directors, business group directors, and operations staff
  • Commitment to HDR values and active participation in our employee‑owned culture
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Driver's license and U.S. passport, or ability to acquire one
Location & Travel

Position is located in the United States with preference for areas of significant HDR presence and proximity to an HDR office. Travel averages approximately 50% of time with monthly fluctuations between 25% and 75%. Domestic travel up to 75% of the time may be required.
