The Educational Communications Board (ECB) offers a professional yet relaxed environment, extensive training, great colleagues, and some really cool technology! ECB is the state agency that delivers educational, noncommercial, and public safety media via Wisconsin Public Radio and PBS Wisconsin. We are seeking a Systems Administrator (IS Technical Services Specialist) for our Core Technology team.

Position SummaryThis position focuses on the administration of physical and virtual servers, storage, and other hardware. The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring to prevent workflow disruptions and service outages. Additionally, the role provides timely technical support with complete documentation of work.
Special Requirements- Requires a variable, non‑traditional work schedule including some nights and weekends.
- May require occasional standby or on‑call status, which will be compensated in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
- Requires occasional in‑state travel (10%).
This classification is assigned to pay schedule‑range 07‑34. The starting hourly rate for the Systems Administrator (IS Technical Services Senior) position will be between $35.00 and $40.00 per hour ($72,800.00 and $83,200.00 annually), depending on candidate qualifications, plus excellent benefits. For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan at the time of hire.
A 12‑month probationary period may be required.
Due to the nature of the position, ECB will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection.
ECB does not sponsor work visas and is not an eligible OPT (Optional Practical Training) employer for F-1 international students. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.
The position involves regular and frequent travel. The selected candidate must have a valid driver’s license that meets the State’s Risk Management requirements and provide evidence of auto insurance if using a personal vehicle for work or have the ability to obtain reliable transportation on a consistent basis.
QualificationsQualified applicants will have experience with each of the following:
- Systems administration such as managing and maintaining servers, physical and virtual machines, network‑attached storage systems, and all IT systems, including desktop and server Windows and Linux systems.
Maintaining Active Directory environments, especially focusing on creating and tuning Group Policy Objects and applying the Principle of Least Privilege to all designs.
Providing technical support to end‑users for hardware, software and network connectivity issues.
