Join our team and serve in a critical role as an Airport Development Specialist (Transportation Specialist - Adv). The Airport Engineering Section guides the planning, design, and construction of safe, efficient airport facilities in a collaborative and dynamic team environment. In this role, you will be able to develop or expand your aviation knowledge while being an advocate for airports throughout Wisconsin!
This position will be headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI and is required to work from that location at least 2 days per week after an initial training period. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

The WisDOT Division of Transportation Investment Management (DTIM) conducts long‑range, multimodal transportation planning; guides the use of state and federal transportation dollars based upon research and data analysis of the state's transportation systems; manages the project selection process for the state highway rehabilitation and the major highway programs; and administers various local transportation, transit, airport, rail, harbor and other specialized aids programs.
The Bureau of Aeronautics (BOA) works to help airports and pilots with all things aviation related, from airport development (such as runways, terminal buildings, real estate services, and even snow removal equipment), to federal and state funding administration, pilot refresher seminars, and aviation education, just to name a few. This position resides in the General Aviation Airport Engineering Section which initiates and executes planning, design, construction and equipment acquisition projects for the state’s 80+ General Aviation airports.
PositionSummary
In this position, you will serve as a project management specialist for airport improvement projects assigned to the General Aviation Section. The General Aviation Section is responsible for delivering over $100 million of safety critical airport projects annually. You will work directly with local officials, the Federal Aviation Administration, and other state, local, and federal agencies on sensitive and complex issues with broad authority to establish project parameters.
