Role Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Plant Health Specialist to oversee the overall plant health management in our horticulture and landscaping section. This role involves diagnosing various plant stresses, developing prevention and treatment strategies, and ensuring the overall health of plants in landscapes, gardens, and green spaces. The ideal candidate should have expertise in Plant Physiology, Biochemistry, Agricultural Chemistry, and Plant Pathology, along with experience in sustainable disease control methods.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect plants across all sites to detect signs of biotic pests, diseases, and abiotic nutrient deficiencies, as well as environmental stress.
- Develop and implement strategies to alleviate plant stress and enhance plant health.
- Identify and diagnose plant diseases, pests, and other health issues in landscaping and horticultural settings.
- Conduct site surveys to assess the cause and severity of plant stress.
- Recommend cultural, biological, and chemical disease management practices.
- Perform soil and plant health assessments to determine appropriate treatments and nutrient management solutions.
- Recommend suitable pesticides, specifying type, dosage, and application frequency, and oversee follow‑up treatments.
- Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies and regularly monitor pesticide applications and plant recovery.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, surveys, and control measures, and report findings to the Manager Horticulture.
- Provide advisory support to the Manager Horticulture for project planning and horticultural maintenance activities.
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Plant Science, Agriculture, Horticulture with specialization in Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Chemistry, Plant Physiology & Biochemistry.
8-10 years of experience in diagnosing and managing plant stresses affecting metabolism, growth, or development (4 years in GCC countries).
Expertise- Identifying plant stress (biotic, abiotic, or anthropogenic) and implementing appropriate control measures.
- Understanding biochemical processes in plants and their effects on growth and development.
- Managing plant diseases in horticultural crops and ornamental landscaping.
- Soil health assessment, biological control agents, and sustainable landscape management practices.
Salary:
Up to 1,000 Bahrain Dinar per month to 1,500 Bahrain Dinar per month. Additional benefits include accommodation/HRA, mobile allowance, and car allowance as per company norms.
