Principal Electrical Engineer – Manchester
We have a brand‑new opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team based in Manchester. This is an exciting time to join our Manchester office, where we have strong relationships with clients across the region and are working on a variety of local, regional and international projects.
About the roleAs a Principal Engineer you will support and deliver designs for a range of project types and sizes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and support staff to provide a consistent, high‑quality service for clients, ensuring new and repeat business opportunities are developed and profitability is achieved.
Key responsibilities- Be responsible for the day‑to‑day technical delivery of electrical design services for multi‑disciplinary projects across a number of building sectors.
- Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
- Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a communicative, collaborative and timely approach to delivery. This is a client‑facing role, involving project meetings and translating the brief within the project team.
- Work with the team leader to monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
- Mentor and support our next‑generation professionals, including apprentices and graduates.
- Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering on a variety of complex projects.
- Experience of modern technical delivery processes and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
- Demonstrable experience working with clients, contractors and architects in a design‑oriented / consultant role.
- Self‑awareness, an open mind and a spirit of generosity.
- Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills and confidence.
