Summary of Job

The Shipping Department Material Handler is responsible for operating a Hi-Lo as a means of moving product in a safe and efficient manner. Material handlers must manage multiple tasks and prioritize based on the situation. They may perform multiple roles depending on daily needs. The key skill is understanding safety, product quality, and applying that knowledge to the team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Support, demonstrate and promote Pregis’ core values: integrity, collaboration, customer focus and innovation.
  • Ensure safe handling and movement of all products and racks, focusing on safety and secure product handling to avoid damage.
  • Monitor and communicate accurate inventory control within the warehouse.
  • Load/Unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
  • Perform periodic audits of stored materials for quality compliance, including materials loaded and shipped to customers.
  • Process all shipping and receiving documentation and records.
  • Maintain a current and valid Hi-Lo license and pass the test within the first day of work.
  • Work primarily at the outside warehouse facility but may assist with operations at the main facility.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and PPE requirements.

Additional responsibilities include housekeeping during the shift to maintain an orderly and safe environment, physical and visual inspection of products to prevent non-conforming goods, reporting quality defects, attending safety trainings, and performing other duties as assigned.   • Willingness to learn and adapt in a growth-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and perform simple math calculations.
  • Prior SAP or similar ERP system knowledge.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standard work instructions, and adhere to safe practices in a continuous improvement culture.
  • Occasional exposure to moving equipment.
  • Humidity may exceed 80%.
Physical Characteristics
  • Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 75% of the shift.
  • Frequent sitting, rotating up to 100% of the shift.
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs. unassisted).
  • Occasional typing/keyboarding and document preparation as needed.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of warehouse/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years HiLo experience.
