Responsibilities include working with competency manager and learning consultant to develop and test commercial competency programs for sales, pre-sales domain experts and channel partners. The commercial competency programs will be designed to build the skills and knowledge required to position and differentiate Rockwell Automation in a variety of industries and applications. The Developer, Commercial Competency is responsible for applying creativity and a performance-based methodology to develop a variety of competency options, including classroom materials, computer-based training courses, video, job aids, e-tools, tests, etc. The position requires a balance of creativity, graphic design, instructional and writing skills.

Additional responsibilities:

Work with designer to analyze target audiences to determine training needs and design/develop sound competency solutions

Translate complex commercial information into clear and accurate text, graphics, tables, etc.

Ability to take “storyboarded” concepts and create commercial training collateral in multimedia formats

Ability to work with both internal and 3rd party video and graphics design teams to create necessary collateral

Apply a performance-based training methodology to produce instructionally sound training materials in a variety of formats (instructor-led, e-Learning, job aids, etc.)

Develop expertise with target audiences in order to develop and test realistic training scenarios, hands-on labs, simulations, test questions, etc.

Work with subject matter experts to obtain technical and commercial guidance and feedback

Pilot new programs with target audiences to ensure accuracy and effectiveness

Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities

Ability to serve multiple clients, prioritize requests and negotiate deadlines

Contribute to continuous process improvement and "value add" philosophy by analyzing and improving upon current solutions

Develop skills and knowledge by taking advantage of training and professional development opportunities in order to stay current on competency best practices

Minimum Qualification

BS/BA required

Demonstrate capability to work on multiple types of projects at any one time.

Strong organization, attention to detail and time management skills.

Strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Creative individual.

Desired Qualification

Demonstrated experience developing eLearning courseware, performance support aids, online tutorials and instructor-led training materials using industry standard tools such as Captivate, Articulate Studio/Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, and Flash; knowledge in standard concepts, practices and procedures of instructional design (SCORM and AICC)
