Very nice hospital in the West of Ireland requires a Consultant in Anaesthesia.

The Hospital has 339 beds. Its aim is to deliver high quality and equitable care for all its patients, in a safe and secure environment, and to achieve excellence in clinical practice, teaching, training and research. The hospital has an ongoing modernisation programme and has recently introduced new computer based systems such as a Laboratory Computerised system. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of emergency and elective services to Inpatients and Outpatients.

The Clinical Anaesthesia service is currently provided for the Hospital by seven Consultant Anaesthetists. These services include provision of anaesthesia, provision of intensive care medicine, provision of acute pain medicine, pre-operative assessment clinics, transport of the critically ill and the various administrative roles taken on by anaesthetists. The department provides anaesthesia to:

 General Surgery
 Orthopaedic Surgery
 Obstetric and Gynaecological Surgery
 Psychiatry
 Dental/Maxillofacial surgery and day case ENT surgery.

The Intensive Care Service admits, on a 24 hour basis, critically ill patients from all disciplines with in the hospital and takes responsibility for a rapid response to all emergencies. The service has an integral role in the Trauma Team for the Accident and Emergency Department and Cardiac Arrest Team for the hospital. A Pre-operative Assessment Unit has been established for all surgical patients and the department runs an Antenatal High Risk Obstetric/Anaesthesia Clinic.


Initial contract of 12 months. High possibility of extension of the contract.
Approximate net monthly salary of 6000-7000€ net/month after tax and pension deductions for Consultant positions. Could have the possibility to earn more money through private patients attending the hospital. Typical long term Consultants in Ireland are earning in excess of 10.000€ net/month (approximately 200.000€ gross/year).
31 working days per Year holidays for Consultants+ public holidays (there is 9 in a year).
7 study days leave per year to attend conferences or further education for Consultants.
Up to 3000€ for educational funding for Consultants.
Lucrative pension scheme included.
Bologna Health Jobs will help the doctor in many issues to do with the selection process and the incorporation to our Client hospital as could be: going over the CVs to adapt them to the vacancies, help with registering with the Irish Medical Council (IMC), tips and advice before the interviews with the hospitals (including possible questions asked by the hospitals), help to get your experience recognized in Ireland if you are coming from abroad, help with relocation issues, Tax advice, Career planning in Ireland, etc. In a nutshell we pride ourselves with having long term relationships with the candidates we place so we will help you in everything that we can possibly do so.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Should be on the Specialist registrar of the Irish Medical Council for Anaesthsia and Intensive care if this is NOT the case we will help all eligible candidates to get registered with the Irish Medical Council on the Specialist Registrar if he/she has completed his training in Anaesthesia inside the European Union. Please take into account that the process can take up to 3-4 months in total.

 Have a very good command of written and spoken English.

 Good motivation to go to Ireland to work as a doctor ASAP.

      4.   At least 5-6 years experience in Anaesthesia is required (including your training years).
