You want to be an important member of a strong team of other makers who take pride in their work and support each other. As a LBM Technical Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing implementation, training, and support for Simpson Building Technology customers. Simpson Building Technology is used by LBM and builder estimators/design professionals; encompassing Estimating applications, Wall Panel and Engineered Wood Products (EWP) design. Provide onsite installation and training for internal and external software users. Write software reports and strategies, and maintain the company client database. Establish and execute training curricula in accordance with customer needs. Develop and maintain relationships with a new and existing customer base. (45%)

Respond to technical support calls in accordance with defined procedures. Validate customer software issues and develop and execute a response plan. (35%)

Support Simpson Strong-Tie sales team with software demonstrations. Coordinate projects between customers, sales, and the Engineering Services division. (20%)


If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

* Bachelor's Degree preferred.
* 4 years relevant experience with estimating and design of EWP and Wall Panel products.
* Customer Focus: quickly and effectively solve customer problems and maintain productive customer relationships. Readily adjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.
* Self-Management: set priorities, goals and timelines to achieve maximum productivity. Manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
* Math: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
* Reading and Writing: ability to read and interpret construction documents including architectural and engineering drawings. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Speaking and Communication: ability to communicate verbally in an appropriate way for the audience he/she is speaking to. Communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers. Listen with full attention to what other people are saying, making sure to understand the needs being expressed, asking questions as appropriate without interrupting. Speak proficiently in front of groups of customers, coworkers, and managers.
* Analysis/Reasoning: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
* Accountability and Dependability: arrive to appointments/meetings on time and follow instructions, policies, and procedures. Fulfill commitments made to customers, peers, co-workers, and managers. Hold self and others accountable for measureable, high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results.
* Driving Record: possess and maintain a driving record which complies with company policy.
* Computer/Software: ability to utilize Microsoft Office suite, working knowledge of SQL databases, and basic understanding of computer networking, along with hardware and software troubleshooting.
* Knowledge: knowledge of regional building practices and general understanding of design, fabrication and engineering desired.


This job requires 50% domestic travel.


This full-time, exempt position is located in McKinney, TX


Relocation is not available for this position.
