HVAC Controls Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and operate complete building control systems, including fire safety, security, lighting, nurse call, data networks, and other low‑voltage subsystems to meet project requirements.
• Develop and commission complex software programs and troubleshoot to ensure proper operation of building control systems.
• Create flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics as required by contract documents.
• Coordinate drawings, equipment schedules, and submittals for installation, and track material delivery from order to installation.
• Assist with factory mounting, loading, and commissioning of system and network‑level controllers.
• Validate complete system functionality, resolve issues with subcontractors and other trades, and provide as‑built drawings and software updates.
• Communicate progress and issues to management, contractors, and customers; perform site‑specific training for owners/operators.
• Participate in release meetings and perform value engineering to deliver cost‑effective results.
• Adhere to safety standards and maintain a focus on employee and subcontractor safety.

• Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience, or an associate degree in a related technical field with seven years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least five years of experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry and building automation systems.
• Proficiency in control theory, automatic temperature controls, and integration of low‑voltage subsystems using industry protocols (e.g., LON, BACnet).
• Ability to translate technical information for non‑technical audiences.
• Advanced computer skills in drafting tools and software development.

Hiring Salary Range: $68,000 - $93,000 (salary based on education, experience, skills, and market data).
