Senior Supply Planning Manager Position Overview

Senior Supply Planning Manager is a strategic, people‑focused leader responsible for building and maintaining short‑ and long‑term supply plans that balance customer service, cost, capacity, and inventory objectives. This role partners closely with Demand Planning, Commercial, Operations, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to enable informed decision‑making and consistent execution across the planning horizon. The position also plays a key role in Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE), the annual operating plan (AOP), and continuous improvement initiatives, while providing coaching and mentorship to planners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve rolling supply plans across assigned products, categories, plants, or manufacturing networks using demand forecasts, capacity constraints, and inventory targets.
  • Translate 12–18 month supply plans into actionable inputs for master production scheduling and near‑term execution.
  • Lead complex scenario modeling and trade‑off analyses to evaluate capacity limitations, demand variability, inventory risk, service impact, and cost implications.
  • Communicate supply risks, constraints, opportunities, and mitigation plans to cross‑functional stakeholders through S&OE, planning reviews, and leadership forums.
  • Partner with Demand Planning, Sales, Operations, Scheduling, and other stakeholders to align assumptions, priorities, and execution plans.
  • Analyze historical performance data (e.g., plan adherence, service levels, utilization, and run rates) to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Drive performance against key metrics such as service level/OTIF, inventory turns, slow and obsolete inventory, and working capital objectives.
  • Serve as a point of contact for supply planning topics with internal partners and, as appropriate, external or customer‑facing teams.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement efforts related to planning processes, tools, data quality, and ways of working.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop planning team members, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high‑performance culture.

NOTE:

This list presents only the principal duties of the position and is not intended to be comprehensive. The duties and responsibilities listed above may be changed or supplemented at any time in accordance with business needs and conditions.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive experience in supply planning, production planning, or a related discipline within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing complex supply plans across multiple products, assets, or constraints.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM or CSCP are preferred but not required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
Competencies and Skills
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving capabilities with a practical approach to root cause analysis.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and levels without formal authority.
  • Clear, inclusive, and concise communication skills, including the ability to present insights and recommendations to leaders.
  • Proficiency with planning systems and tools (ERP/MRP required; Microsoft Dynamics 365, advanced Excel, and data visualization tools such as Power BI are a plus).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to coaching, feedback, and talent development.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and continuous improvement mindset in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • This role is primarily office‑based and typically involves extended periods of sitting, working at a computer, and participating in meetings.
  • Occasional standing, walking, or light movement may be required.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

NOTE:

Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
