Overview
Business Development Manager – Energy & Utilities
The Business Development Manager will be instrumental in driving growth by uncovering new business opportunities, developing strong client partnerships, and delivering value-led consultancy solutions across the utilities sector. This is a highly client-facing role, suited to a proactive, commercially focused individual with a consultative sales approach and a genuine interest in sustainable energy solutions.
Responsibilities- Proactively identify and secure new business across Commercial, Industrial, and SME markets
- Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline through networking, outbound activity, and referrals
- Engage with clients to understand their requirements and deliver tailored consultancy solutions across energy, water, and telecoms
- Collaborate closely with technical and operational teams to ensure seamless onboarding and service delivery
- Lead contract negotiations and successfully close deals aligned with business objectives
- Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences to build brand presence
- Provide regular sales reporting, forecasting, and market insights to senior leadership
- Demonstrable experience in B2B sales or business development, ideally within Energy or Utilities
- Solid understanding of utility markets, procurement frameworks, and cost-reduction strategies
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Highly self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working autonomously
- Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel for client meetings
