Overview

The Cardiac Cath Lab at Banner Heart Hospital provides diagnostic and interventional Cardiac and Electrophysiology procedures for adult patients. Located in Mesa, Arizona, Banner Heart Hospital has multiple cardiac and electrophysiology spaces and supports a range of minimally invasive cardiovascular care.

Schedule:

3 12-hour shifts, between 5:30am and 10:00pm with call rotation.

Position:
Registered Nurse (RN) in Cardiac Cath Lab/OP-Hosp. The RN will be responsible for preparing and recovering patients who have undergone Cath Lab procedures. The CARS RN also supports in TEE, Cardioversions, Tilt Table, and Loop Recorders, and provides recovery for anesthesia patients if anesthesia was required for the procedure. Cath Lab procedures include structural heart (TAVR, Watchman, Mitra Clip), diagnostic and interventional cardiology, and EP procedures.

Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in Preop PACU, Cath Lab, or Procedural RN roles; RN license and BLS certification; must live within 30 minutes of the facility due to call requirements; and a desire to contribute to patient care.

Responsibilities (Core Functions)
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Review patient history and physical with patient/family and coordinate with the health care team.
  • Formulate and implement a plan of care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team. Develop realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patient/family. Adjust the plan as patient needs change.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team. Provide care based on physician orders and nursing plan of care in compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. Delegate appropriately and supervise care delivered by other licensed staff and personnel.
  • Promote continuity of care by communicating patient status clearly to other caregivers.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan as needed. Assess progress toward goals in collaboration with the care team.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure documentation is legible, timely, and policy-compliant.
  • Provide care based on best available evidence and participate in clinical practice activities; contribute to education, role development, and orientation for facility personnel, patients, families, and visitors. Support growth through mentoring when appropriate.
  • Contribute to outcomes by participating in initiatives to improve patient care quality and participate in professional activities as appropriate.
  • In some roles, supervise staff and workflow within the department and interact with a broad range of stakeholders to coordinate patient care.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Current, valid RN license in state of practice or compact licensure; BLS certification required.
    • Experience in the clinical area of application; annual validations to maintain competencies.
    • Banner Registry and Travel roles require a minimum of one year of acute care RN experience.
    • Must meet any additional certification or continuing education requirements based on area of practice.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Professional certification preferred.
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
