The Role
As a Senior Designer at Juliette Calaf Interiors, you will lead the design work and the design team from concept through installation. You will develop refined design concepts, guide the team's day‑to‑day work, coordinate with vendors and trades, and bring decision‑ready work to the principal for final sign‑off. This role exists to carry design execution forward at the highest standard, so the studio can grow without compromising quality.
WhoWe Are Looking For
The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, an understanding of luxury interiors, and the ability to balance creativity with organization and execution. You are ready to step into a leadership seat: you can run projects, guide other designers, and take ownership of quality. You take quick direction from a principal and run with it, rather than needing every detail spelled out.
You are organized, accountable, and motivated to grow into a senior leadership role as the studio expands.
- Develop and execute design concepts from concept through installation, including space planning, sourcing, FF&E selections, palettes, and client presentations.
- Lead and support the design team day to day, giving direction, feedback, and quality review so work moves forward smoothly.
- Bring finished, decision‑ready design work to the principal for final sign‑off.
- Coordinate with vendors, showrooms, workrooms, and trades on the design side of each project.
- Maintain design quality, timelines, and JCI standards across all active projects.
- Work closely with the team handling estimates, orders, and logistics to keep projects on track.
- Five or more years of experience in residential interior design, with a strong portfolio of completed work.
- A refined design eye and a deep understanding of luxury residential interiors.
- Strong sourcing, specification, presentation, and vendor communication skills.
- Excellent organization and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
- Strong technical aptitude and the proven ability to learn new software quickly and independently.
- Readiness to lead, mentor, and grow into a senior leadership role.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑standard, client‑service environment.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring other designers.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Studio Designer, Design Manager, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with Click Up, Google Workspace, or similar project and document management platforms.
- Experience managing FF&E, custom furniture, and trade vendor relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
- Move design work forward to final sign‑off without the principal pulling projects along.
- Keep the design team clear, supported, and productive, with fewer questions escalating to the principal.
- Deliver design work on schedule and at JCI quality, with fewer revisions after review.
- Maintain accuracy in selections, specifications, pricing, and lead times.
- Support each project from concept through installation with strong follow‑through.
Compensation and benefits will be discussed during the interview process and will be commensurate with experience.
