A Floor Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas of the hotel. Performs preventative and corrective floor care tasks, special cleaning procedures, supply control and inventory tasks, technical training assistance, and minor equipment maintenance in a continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Operate commercial and small vacuums to clean all assigned carpeted areas.
- Vacuum air register vents to promote clean, quality air flow.
- Operate commercial buffers for floor care.
- Operate commercial extractors and wet vacs as needed.
- Dust and clean fire doors, lounge furniture, and door and window surfaces.
- Mix and dilute housekeeping chemicals safely.
- Dust and clean mattresses and bed frames as needed.
- Maintain supply closets with cleaning materials and conduct inventory control of all materials needed and used.
- Scrub and disinfect restrooms, utility rooms and showers.
- Discard all trash from containers throughout facility and dispose of properly.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY
:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly in English with guests and staff as is necessary to effectively work within the department.
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move materials weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to move throughout building, bend, stoop and reach on a continuous basis up to an 8 hour shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
- At least 6 months working in an institutional cleaning environment operating commercial cleaning and floor care equipment; or related work experience preferred.
- Experience in all phases of operating floor buffers, waxes, floor strippers, and carpet care preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning agents, equipment and methods of soil removal.
- Basic math, reading and writing skills to handle inventory and equipment logs.
