Position: Associate Nurse Manager, Full-Time, Night Shift, Jackson South

Summary

The Associate Nurse Manager reports directly to the Nurse Manager and oversees daily operations of the assigned shift, ensuring proper care is provided to all patients. The role is accountable for maintaining high quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical and support staff, and resource and service management. The Associate Nurse Manager must ensure services and care comply with organizational policies, demonstrate fiscal responsibility, and assist the Nurse Manager with the strategic operations of the unit, including staff meetings and other responsibilities.

The Associate Nurse Manager is knowledgeable of hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient care standards.

Miami, FL – Full‑Time – 2 South

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Nurse Manager and leadership team to support the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of Jackson Health System.
  • Improve employee engagement through collaboration, accountability, and one‑on‑one meetings.
  • Lead lean/ process‑improvement work groups and structured huddles before shifts.
  • Resolve staff issues with unions, emphasizing CARE values and a just culture model.
  • Support staff growth and development, including succession planning, mentoring, and corrective action processes.
  • Provide, modify, and coordinate the highest standard of care using the nursing process; anticipate and report significant patient findings.
  • Coordinate patient education, bedside handoffs, and call‑light responsiveness.
  • Assume 24/7 responsibility in the absence of the Nurse Manager and assist with staffing, documentation, and urgent reporting.
  • Collaborate with case management and physicians to ensure timely patient discharges and completion of consults.
  • Partner with leadership to identify, develop, and retain high‑potential employees through stretch assignments and educational programs.
  • Analyze healthcare trends, suggest changes, and drive improvement in patient care standards.
  • Support quality and performance metrics, including infection control, safety initiatives, and patient experience measures.
  • Participate in budgetary planning, monitor cost management strategies, and maintain monthly staffing schedules.
Experience

Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience. Management experience is strongly preferred.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required.

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life‑support certification required upon hire; must have at least 6 months validity and be maintained at JHS.
  • Maintain valid and current all unit‑specific and organizational skills, competencies, certifications, and licensures required by regulatory and nursing practice standards.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements – The job requires frequent sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods; ability to carry objects up to 20 pounds; visual acuity for computer use. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in collaboration with the Reasonable Accommodations Committee.
