Position Summary:

The Hastings Area School System is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Special Education

Paraprofessional to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in general

education classrooms. This position plays a critical role in ensuring students with disabilities

have access to grade-level curriculum alongside their peers while receiving appropriate

accommodations and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to students with IEPs in general education settings to promote

access to instruction in the least restrictive environment

• Assist in implementing accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs

• Support classroom teachers with instructional activities, small group work, and

individualized assistance

• Foster student independence, social-emotional growth, and positive peer interactions

• Collect and document student data related to IEP goals and behavioral supports

• Assist with behavior management plans and reinforce positive behavior strategies

• Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and related service

providers

• Support students during transitions, specials, lunch, and other school activities as

needed

• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or building administrator.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Experience working with children, preferably with students who have special needs.

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping all students succeed.
