Student-Information Technology Classroom Lab Assistant
The student employee for the Information Technology (IT) Classroom Lab Support position will work closely with the lead IT instructor to maintain and support the computer equipment and instructional materials used in the lab. Tasks are performed safely with the wellbeing of all lab participants in mind.
Required Qualifications- Ability to operate a personal computer for general purpose use.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Applicants who are enrolled in, or have an interest in, related occupations such as Information Technology, Business, Accounting, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Help keep inventory of computer parts and consumables.
- Maintain a safe lab environment for participants.
- Additional duties may be assigned by a supervisor as needed.
Applicants must be enrolled at the College on a full‑time or part‑time basis (minimum of 6 credit hours during fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours during the summer semester). High‑school students who are dual enrolled are eligible for student employment, provided they meet the credit hour requirement.
Alternatively, applicants must be continuing their education with a four‑year college partner on the SMC campus, and be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, including at least 1 SMC credit hour during fall and spring semesters, and 3 credit hours with at least 1 SMC credit hour during the summer semester.
All student employees must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for this position.
Physical Requirements- The physical activity of this position: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, talking, hearing.
- The physical requirements of this position: light work with occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds, frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds, and negligible force constantly.
- Visual acuity requirements: vision to perform tasks at arm’s reach with non‑repetitive nature.
- Conditions the employee will be subject to: both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
