Summary

2 years of experience and a 14K sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates. This position requires basic knowledge of neuroscience and general medical overflow diagnoses, and the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for these patients.

Responsibilities
  • 30%) Regularly assess patients/clients needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice.
  • 30%) Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, call lights, assisting with transfers, responding to alarms, etc.
  • 20%) Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plan and make suggestions or participate in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information to improve patient care.
  • 10%) Process physician/provider orders and perform physician ordered care accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
  • 10%) Follow up regarding medication changes and order clarifications.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret information and report pertinent data to the physician.
  • Assess learning needs considering readiness, ability, preferences, and cultural/spiritual variables.
  • Provide education to meet individual learning needs.
  • Participate in care conferences as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain good working rapport with interdisciplinary personnel to meet the needs of each patient.
  • Coordinate care provided by patient care technicians.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize the needs of groups of patients or an individual patient.
  • Demonstrate a general ability to manage assignments and perform routine duties on the unit.
  • Instruct other team members when appropriate, explaining goals and rationale for individualized care.
  • Implement clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of clinical pathways and utilize them appropriately; remain calm and efficient when working in stressful situations.
  • Document accurately, clearly, and concisely, including pertinent clinical data.
  • Share information and report significant changes and/or abnormal findings to appropriate team members.
  • Participate in regulatory surveys.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Assist with orientation and ongoing competencies.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for patient care.
  • Attend and participate in professional association activities and programs to stay current on regulations, guidelines, and professional standards.
  • Remains current on new developments by reading professional journals and attending seminars.
  • Demonstrate understanding of role in emergency preparedness procedures.
  • Perform and document neurological assessments on all neuro patients, on admission and in accordance with established standards.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of neuro disease processes by correlating assessment findings with nursing knowledge to formulate measurable and achievable interdisciplinary care plans.
  • Implement and monitor teaching plans that will assist patients in adapting to lifestyle changes.
  • Make appropriate team assignments based on staff expertise and patient need.
  • Monitor and initiate safety measures to prevent patient injury.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Certifications and Licensures
  • BLS:
    Basic Life Support – Equivalent experience within 3 months of hire.
  • RN:
    Registered Nurse – Essential qualification.
  • TEAM ADVANCED:
    Techniques for Effective Aggression Management – Equivalent experience within 6 months of hire; employees hired on or before 12/31/2023 have 24 months to complete the certification.
  • ACLS:
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support – Equivalent experience within 6 months of hire.
  • DIMC:
    Dysrhythmia Interpretation & Management – Employees hired after January 1 2025 required to complete within 12 months of hire.
  • NIHSS:
    National Institute of Health Stroke Scale – Equivalent experience within 6 months of hire.
Required Education

Associate degree in Nursing;
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

Other Information
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups at all levels.
