Registered Nurse (RN) – Obstetrics (OB) – St. Francis Medical CenterJob Summary
The Obstetrics (OB) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
- Determining the priority of the patient’s problems and needs
- Implementing clinical nursing interventions for acute, critical patients requiring intensive medical care
- Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
- Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
- Provide woman-, newborn-, and family-centered care, including individuals who do not self-identify as women
- Deliver episodic (outpatient) and inpatient obstetrical/women’s health nursing care where applicable
- Apply the nursing process for women during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, gynecological and other women's health issues, and neonates from birth until discharge with varying gestational ages, diagnoses, and complications
- Deliver care to women of all ages requiring triage, prioritization, assessment, education, stabilization, resuscitation, and emergency management
- Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice and organization policies
- Other duties as assigned
- Graduate of an accredited Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS acceptable in lieu of BLS)
- NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred at hire; must obtain within 3 months)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification – National Certification Corporation (preferred if interpreting fetal monitoring)
- One (1) year of professional experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Recent OB, ED, or Critical Care experience (preferred but not required)
- EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred but not required)
