Job Description
This position operates a commercial motor vehicle with a GVW greater than 26,000 lbs with trailers up to 53 feet in length. The driver is accountable for the safe and courteous driving, delivery, loading and unloading (including safe forklift operation) of items to facilities in the Intermountain distribution network. The driver must operate a semi‑tractor and trailer in compliance with all state and federal regulations, including required paperwork, safety checks and reporting of any maintenance problems.
The driver works to provide an excellent distribution system between facilities and organizations within Intermountain Health.
Full‑time, 8:00 pm – 4:00 am, 40 hours per week.
Essential Functions- Safety Awareness:
Safely operates a commercial motor vehicle with a GVW greater than 26,000 lbs in a variety of conditions and environments to complete deliveries of equipment, packages, specimens and supplies. Typically transports large or heavy items that require safe lifting and moving techniques and stays aware of conditions that affect safety. - Service Focus:

- Valid class “A” driver’s license with no restrictions and a DOT driver’s road test passed.
- A DOT medical card.
- 21 years of age or older (required by DOT for commercial motor vehicles).
- Ability to use basic computer software and applications.
- Understand and follow department procedures and practices.
- Comply with Intermountain Healthcare’s Motor Vehicle Driver Policy.
- Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to load and unload carts and pallets.
- Safe operation and maneuvering of forklifts in tight spaces while loading and unloading pallets from docks and trailers.
- Demonstrated ability to operate trucks and equipment in all weather and light conditions, requiring good vision, physical agility and motor skills.
- OSHA forklift certification; must obtain certification within six months of hire to remain in position.
- Physical requirements for lifting, sitting, seeing, standing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing and walking (see Physical Requirements section).
- Five years professional driving experience.
- Doubles and Triples endorsement.
- Hazmat endorsement.
- Need to read and identify information, labels, monitors, equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
- Frequent communication with customers, requiring accuracy.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment with precision.
- Ability to lift, transport, pull, push equipment, work on hands and knees, bend, set up, troubleshoot, and carry supplies; includes items of varying weights up to heavy items.
- For driving roles: ability to sit, see, read signs and traffic signals.
Supply Chain Center, Midvale, Utah. 40 weekly hours. Hourly rate $25.64–$39.00, dependent on experience.
