Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis

Under the supervision of the Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance/CFO, the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for overseeing the prospective financial management functions, including budgeting, forecasting, planning, coordination, and control of these processes, as well as financial and predictive analysis and benchmarking.

Essential Functions
  • Work with the AVP for Finance/Controller to plan, coordinate, and control the annual budget process, which begins in December and culminates in a budget package submission to the Board of Trustees in April.
  • Plan, coordinate, and control the semi‑annual forecasting process, culminating in a forecast package for the President of the College and Board of Trustees.
  • Engage with the College’s Senior Leadership and budget managers to provide strong communication and cross‑functional teamwork across all levels of the College.
  • Analyze and document actual vs. budgeted and forecasted financial results on a monthly basis (“MD&A” process), researching operational information across departments and condensing it into executive‑level summaries.
  • Assist the AVP for Finance/Controller in preparing financial analyses for the annual audit, internal and external financial and tax reporting.
  • Maintain all macro‑enabled worksheets that support monthly accounting close and internal financial statements.
  • Maintain enrollment models together with enrollment management.
  • Maintain aid strategy models in collaboration with financial aid.
  • Research and compile competitive and benchmark information for comparative analysis purposes.
  • Continue updating and refining the College’s long‑term (e.g., 5‑Year) Financial Model.
  • Support the broader college community in ad‑hoc requests to create financial models and perform other necessary financial analyses.
  • Prepare and submit industry‑related surveys to IPEDS/NCHE and others.
  • Perform additional financial analyses as needed.
  • Evaluate and improve the budget reporting process in collaboration with the AVP for Finance and the EVP for Admin & Finance to provide efficient, timely, and informative reports.
  • Develop management reports for the Board decision‑making process, coordinating with the President and EVP for Admin & Finance, and implement modifications to existing board report systems as needed.

Job Requirements Essential Characteristics

Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 5–7 years experience in financial analysis and accounting for a non‑profit organization, preferably in higher education.
  • Financial management experience necessary to analyze, monitor, and forecast revenue and expenses.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Provide administrative, professional, or technical services as needed in accordance with the Executive VP for Administration and Finance/CFO’s expertise for any issue, project, or program assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or their designee.
  • Experience in Banner systems and advanced Excel, including programming in Visual Basic for Excel.
Salary Range

$90,000 to $95,000 annually
