, Mudam offers a demanding and inspiring working environment at the heart of a museum fully dedicated to contemporary art and culture.
As part of the ongoing development of its strategic positioning and the diversification of its financial resources, Mudam is recruiting a professional with solid experience in institutional fundraising.
MissionThis strategic role supports the funding of exhibitions, artistic programmes and the museum’s structural activities, in particular through philanthropic foundations, institutional funding and European programmes
. The Fundraiser plays a key role in building and sustaining long-term European and international cultural networks, contributing significantly to the museum’s long-term strategic positioning.
A strong knowledge of the contemporary art scene – including its artists, trends and ecosystem – is essential. Working in close collaboration with the Director, curatorial teams and external partners, the post holder actively contributes to the structuring and professionalisation of Mudam’s institutional fundraising within a multicultural, multilingual and demanding environment.
Key responsibilitiesThe Fundraiser is responsible for coordinating all external funding applications of the museum. In close collaboration with the Director General, he/she defines financial objectives for projects, identifies long-term funding partners, analyses relevant funding programmes and develops funding applications in close cooperation with project leaders. He/she also designs and implements an overarching fundraising strategy aligned with the museum’s scientific and curatorial content and maintains sustainable relationships with foundations, institutional funders and international partners.

Foundation and institutional fundraising
- Research and identification of foundations, philanthropic organisations and institutional partners.
- Drafting and submission of tailored funding applications.
- Development and regular updating of a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with the museum’s artistic and institutional vision.
- Building, maintaining and expanding long-term relationships with existing and potential funding partners.
- Strategic monitoring of new funding opportunities and international philanthropy trends.
European funding programmes and collaborative projects
- Development, coordination and management of European projects (Creative Europe, Horizon Europe, Interreg, Erasmus+, etc.).
- Identification of synergies and partnerships with museums, universities, art centres and professional networks.
- Coordination of internal contributions (curatorial, administrative, financial) for European funding applications.
- Contractual, administrative and financial management of EU-funded projects.
Grant writing and reporting
- Preparation of funding applications in line with funders’ criteria, highlighting the museum’s strategic objectives.
- Regular reporting (project progress, impact, financial reporting) to ensure full transparency.
- Preparation of multilingual reports for international partners and European institutions.
- Analysis of the impact of funded projects and communication of results internally and externally.
Strategic planning and advisory role
- Advising the Director and the fundraising team on funding priorities and project selection.
- Ensuring ethical fundraising practices and clear communication of the museum’s values to potential funders.
- Contributing to the strategic development of the department and formulating recommendations on innovation and expansion.
- Ensuring alignment between financial strategy, curatorial vision and international developments in contemporary art.
Budget and financial management
- Management of funds from foundations and institutional funders in compliance with funding requirements.
- Preparation and monitoring of project budgets in close coordination with the museum’s finance department.
