Description

Position Summary
Provide instruction. Teach and assess students, contribute to department work, engage in professional development and contribute to shared governance obligations including accreditation. May be assigned to teach day or evening classes at the main campus or outreach centers. Compensation is by college credit hour based on faculty credentials.

  • Adhere to department guidelines with use of textbook/materials required
  • Successful student retention and completion rates
  • Adhere to Academic Affairs guidelines, including timely submission of syllabi, attendance, grades and assessment findings
  • Continuously seek to improve instruction and student engagement through collaboration and professional development
  • Essential Functions
  • Teach and assess Pre-Calculus:
    Trigonometry & Geometric Reasoning, Calculus I, Analytic Geometry and Calculus II, Analytic Geometry and Calculus III, Quantitative Reasoning, Pre-Calculus:
    Algebraic Reasoning, College Math, Fundamentals of Mathematics, Elementary Statistics, and/or Fundamentals of Algebra; based on instructor credentials and student needs.
  • Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the rules and regulations of the college.
  • Adhere to department guidelines.
  • Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time. Faculty members shall hold classes as scheduled unless dismissal or other arrangements are approved by the appropriate administrator.
  • Prepare and submit copies of syllabi to appropriate supervisor for each class taught.
  • Participate in assessment procedures established by each respective department.
  • Communicate responsibly with students, colleagues, and community members.

    Experience

    Education:

    Master's degree from accredited institution in Mathematics, or Statistics with at least 18 graduate hours in the subject areas of instruction.

    Work Experience:

    Teaching experience, preferably at the college level, and experience with course level assessment preferred.
    Proficient use of instructional technology preferred.
    Industry Knowledge:
    Familiarity with online and distance learning pedagogy preferred.
    Knowledge of learning management systems preferred.
    Work Environment and Physical Requirements
    Working in a professional educational and office environment this position requires sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, light lifting, grasping, talking, seeing, hearing and repetitive motion.
