Description

Position Summary
Provide instruction. Teach and assess student learning, contribute to department work, engage in professional development and contribute to shared governance obligations including accreditation. Will be responsible for providing instruction in introductory agricultural mechanics and agricultural mechanization courses within the agriculture program. The instructor will deliver classroom and laboratory instruction that supports student learning in agricultural equipment, tools, shop practices, and mechanized agricultural systems while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety.

Compensation is by college credit hour based on faculty credentials.

  • Essential Functions
    • Teach assigned courses in Introductory Agricultural Mechanics and Agricultural
    • Mechanization using established course outcomes and curriculum.
    • Follow and implement an approved course syllabus for each class taught.
    • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that support student achievement of course competencies.
    • Present subject matter using a variety of instructional methods such as lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory/shop activities.
    • Demonstrate proper use of agricultural tools, equipment, and machinery.
    • Supervise students in laboratory and shop settings to ensure safe operation of tools and equipment.
    • Provide assistance and guidance to students individually or in groups to reinforce learning concepts and practical skills.
    • Assess and evaluate student learning through assignments, projects, exams, and skill demonstrations.
    • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and course progress.
    • Submit grades and other required documentation in a timely manner.
    • Maintain a classroom and shop environment that promotes safety, respect, and active learning.
    • Communicate effectively with students and Agriculture program faculty regarding course expectations and student progress.
    • Follow institutional policies and professional standards in all instructional activities.
    • Perform other instructional duties as assigned to support the success of the Agriculture program.

    Ability to demonstrate proper operation and maintenance of agricultural equipment
    Ability to assess student learning and provide constructive feedback

    Experience

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Systems Technology, Agricultural Engineering
    Technology, or a closely related field required. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.

    Work Experience:

    Secondary or post-secondary teaching experience is preferred but not required.
    Proficient use of instructional technology required.

    Industry Knowledge:
    Practical experience in agricultural mechanics, equipment operation, fabrication, welding, or
    agricultural machinery maintenance is preferred.

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements
    This position involves both classroom and shop/laboratory instruction. The instructor must be able to demonstrate and supervise the safe use of tools and agricultural equipment. Physical activity may include standing for extended periods, walking, bending, lifting tools or materials, and working in a shop environment.
