Join JFCAC Head Start as a Family Coach and become a vital part of the support system families rely on.
What You'll DoAs a Family Coach, you'll work directly with families to build trust, remove barriers, and support their child's growth and well‑being. Your coaching will help families strengthen relationships, achieve goals, and access community resources.
School Readiness & Inclusion- Guide families through educational choices and transitions like kindergarten enrollment
- Participate in IEP and IFSP meetings when needed
- Build trusted, respectful partnerships with families
- Support parents in developing positive, meaningful interactions with their children
- Provide coaching in child development, health, safety, nutrition, and mental wellness
- Conduct in‑person goal setting and family assessments
- Connect families to resources that support their goals and long‑term wellness
- Collaborate with community partners, service providers, and Head Start staff
- Help plan family events, recruitment efforts, and Open House activities
- Support Family Success Plans and Attendance Success Plans
- Assist families in accessing continuous, high‑quality healthcare and insurance coverage
- Help families obtain services related to nutrition, oral health, mental health, housing, and more
- Ensure required 30/45/90‑day screenings and timelines are met
- Monitor and document daily attendance, concerns, and follow‑up
- Maintain accurate, timely data entry and records per HSPPS guidelines
- Associate degree in social sciences, human services, or related field
- OR 2 years of social services experience may substitute for degree
- Experience in family development, social work, human services, or psychology preferred
- Experience working with low‑income families preferred
- FDC credential (provided) must be completed within 18 months of hire
- Strong ability to problem‑solve and support families in crisis
- Ability to work in homes within high‑risk communities
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (stooping, squatting, etc.)
- Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
