Mechanical Quality Inspector A220; 2nd Shift

Job Description

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a A220 Mechanical Quality Inspector (2nd Shift) to join our team based in Mobile, AL.

The Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for the execution and confirmation of quality inspections as part of the production process with an emphasis on the aircraft structural assemblies and components.

• Contribute to investigations and root cause analysis into reported quality/technical issues from the business team and customer, ensuring appropriate containment, corrective, and curative actions.
• Perform Quality Inspections as per defined standards, Final Check and Attestation, Stop Points, Out of sequence work, including critical activities (when not delegated).
• Ensure Operational Surveillance (people, product and process).
• Provide feedback and coaching to Operations & Support Functions on Quality issues and observations from Operational Surveillance.
• Actively participate in process improvements.
• Execute technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft in the context of the authorization of manufacturer operation.
• Prepare and perform visual, incoming, first article, and final inspections during aircraft manufacture for compliance with design specifications, customers, and certification requirements.
• Document the technical inspections performed in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP production orders, including inspection remarks and other aircraft documents, and prepare first article inspection reports.
• Support troubleshooting, Functional Test Procedures (FTPs), and participate in Quality Survey requests.
• Compile all technical data of non-conformance to launch NCMS-based quality discrepancy sheets for professional assessment.
• Document all results of the technical inspector in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP based IT system.
• Perform audits of Non-Conformance Rework Orders as part of the Material Review Board (MRB).
• Perform audits/reviews of workbooks to validate PV approval and process adherence.
• Track and maintain components during the Non Conformance process.
• Handle and use inspection tools of length measuring techniques (mechanical, optical, electrical).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years of experience in an aviation company with an emphasis on mechanical and/or structural components and assemblies.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
• Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
• Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and tools used in production line.
• Handling and use of inspection tools for length measuring techniques (mechanical, electrical).
• Relevant Airline/Aviation experience is desirable.

• FAA Airframe & Powerplant License, an A&P license including inspection authorization.
• Experience in a Quality Inspector position.

• Vision adequate to enter and read material on computer screens.
• Hearing sufficient for conversation in office settings and safety alerts.
• Speaking ability for conversations in person and via electronic means.
• Equipment operation: operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
• Carrying: occasionally carry up to 20 lbs (9 kg).
• Lifting: occasionally lift up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
• Pushing/Pulling: push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.
• Sitting: sit for extended periods at the computer and in meetings.
• Squatting/Kneeling: occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve items from lower shelves.
• Standing: stand for extended periods delivering information.
• Travel/Mobility: travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods on short notice.
• Walking: walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips.
• Space Limitations: work on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet.
