Join VCA Canada as a full-time Veterinary Assistant in the ICU/Treatment department located in Ottawa, ON. Focus on critical care and support for ill patients in an emergency environment.

In this hands-on role, you'll work within our 24-hour critical care unit at the Alta Vista Specialty & Emergency hospital. Your work will involve patient assessment, triage, and assisting with various procedures, including X-rays and anesthetics. The position requires flexibility, as it includes evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts while reporting to the ICU department manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess the condition of ill patients regularly

• Administer treatments hourly and maintain patient comfort

• Support with lab work and anesthesia management

• Oversee cleanliness and supply needs in treatment areas

• Provide break coverage across departments as needed

Requirements:

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English

• Physical capability to lift 25 kg

• Strong time management and multitasking skills

• Ability to handle stress in emergency situations

• Positive, professional attitude with strong ethics
