Job Description

Job Title: EL Instructional Designer

Department: Instruction

Reports To: Instructional Design Team Lead

Compensation: $82,320 per year

Classification: Non-Classified

Summary: The English Learner Instructional Designer will assist in the planning, design, and development of new applications and enhancements to existing applications with an initial focus on serving those students with extremely limited or no proficiency in English.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with district ELL Department subject matter experts to build course content and assessments.
  • Integrate created curriculum within an LMS to create PK‑12 student‑level courses.
  • Analyze and apply learner data trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
  • Create various instructional support materials and media (audio, video, simulations, role‑play games, etc.).
  • Work with the district Assessments staff and/or subject matter expert to devise modes of assessment that measure the efficacy of created courses.
  • Work with district Instructional Coaches to support Instructional Department professional development.
  • Complete pacing and learning progression analysis at regular intervals during the school year.
  • Complete curriculum and course reviews to ensure created courses meet graduation requirements.
  • Complete curriculum and course reviews to ensure created courses meet NCAA requirements.
  • Work with the district System Support Department to assign courses and SIS codes.
  • Accurately maintain project documentation and course folders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience
  • MS or MA in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a similar relevant field.
  • Two or more years of verifiable experience in instructional design.
  • Oklahoma Elementary or Secondary Education certification.
  • Verifiable experience working with English Learner students.
Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
  • Basic understanding of interoperability between learning tools.
  • Two or more years of verifiable experience working with at least one LMS (Agilix Buzz experience is a plus).
  • Visual design skills; experience with Adobe design suite, Genially, Canva, or Articulate is a plus.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts.
  • Ability to learn quickly, independently, and effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Working knowledge of various district instructional models is a plus.
  • Possess a professional attitude and be able to quickly develop a positive rapport with a range of stakeholders in a virtual working environment.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from families or members of the business community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers, both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic math skills required.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Suite, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
  • High aptitude to learn new software as necessary.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid driver’s license and car insurance.
  • Software‑specific certifications are preferred.
