Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough patient assessments and collect physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive data
  • Implement individualized care plans using the Nursing Process with skill and consistency
  • Provide patient and family teaching to support recovery and informed decisions
  • Document care accurately in electronic medical records per policy and regulatory standards
  • Delegate, supervise, and validate care delivered by the unit team to ensure safe outcomes
  • Serve as Charge Nurse when required—coordinate admissions, discharges, break coverage, and problem-solve for the team
  • Identify and address safety concerns through infection control and safe practice measures
  • Engage in professional growth through workshops and ongoing training to maintain competence
Qualifications
  • Current Washington State RN licensure (required)
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • BLS (Healthcare Provider) certification (AHA or equivalent) required within 30 days of hire
  • Minimum one year of RN experience preferred; acute care experience preferred for specialty units
  • Ability to perform core RN functions: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, crisis management, and accountability in clinical practice
  • Charge nurse experience and strong delegation/supervision skills preferred
  • RN-C specialty certification preferred for Mother Baby Unit roles
Education
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing (ADN, diploma, or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
  • Patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) documentation proficiency
  • Delegation, supervision, and care coordination across multidisciplinary teams
  • Infection control, safety procedures, and emergency response competency
  • Patient education and family-centered care across the lifespan
  • Critical thinking, prioritization, and crisis management
  • Fetal monitoring knowledge (AWHONN Intermediate or equivalent) for L&D roles
  • Neonatal resuscitation and STABLE knowledge for Mother Baby Unit work
