The Opportunity
The School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW, is seeking a Research Associate to contribute to high-quality research in reacting flow modelling and simulation within the fields of process metallurgy and recycling. Working under the guidance of leading researchers, you will undertake defined research projects, applying advanced modelling and simulation techniques to support the development of sustainable processes and improve research outcomes.
This role offers the opportunity to conduct independent and collaborative research, contribute to scholarly publications, and engage with a multidisciplinary research environment focused on advancing knowledge and innovation in process engineering.
This role reports to Prof Yansong Shen and has no direct reports.
Salary, (Level A, Step
6) – AUD $113,911 per annum + 17% superannuation

Skills & Experience
A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience in the field of reacting flow modelling and simulation in process metallurgy and recycling.
Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
