SUMMARY
The Construction Project Coordinator is responsible, under limited supervision, for performing quality control inspections and post-construction reviews of Fiber Optic (PON) and Copper plant construction projects completed by both in-house and contract labor. This role ensures completed work meets company quality standards, design specifications, applicable codes, and established construction practices. The position also coordinates the correction of deficiencies with placement and splice teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and ready for service activation and closeout.
POSITIONSCHEDULE AND ONSITE REQUIREMENTS
This is a direct-hire, full-time, on-site position reporting out of our Murfreesboro office location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDuties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required.
- Perform post-construction field inspections and quality control reviews of completed Fiber Optic (PON) and Copper plant projects.
- Verify completed work complies with approved design specifications, company construction standards, and applicable permitting requirements.
- Identify construction deficiencies, quality concerns, damage, incomplete work, or missing project components during field inspections.
- Document inspection findings electronically, including photos, notes, and corrective action requirements, and distribute them to the appropriate placement or splice teams for resolution.
- Coordinate and track the correction of deficiencies with internal crews and contract resources until work is completed and verified.
- Conduct re-inspections of corrected work to ensure deficiencies have been properly resolved.
- Monitor contractor workmanship and adherence to company quality standards and construction practices.
- Identify risks, recurring quality trends, or opportunities for process improvement, and communicate findings to Construction leadership.
- Respond to and assist in resolving customer concerns related to completed construction activities.
- Perform field validation of permitting, make-ready completion, restoration, and project closeout requirements.
- Verify invoiced work quantities align with completed field construction.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, deficiency logs, and project quality documentation within company project management systems.
- Attend and participate in project coordination and stakeholder meetings as required.
- Perform utility locates as needed.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, industry safety standards, and company policies.
- Communicate inspection status, quality findings, and corrective action progress to project stakeholders and management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of construction experience preferred; telecommunications construction experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret general to complex system layouts and blueprints.
- Knowledge of NESC aerial and underground (UG) requirements, as well as an understanding of state and local regulations related to right-of-way work.
This position primarily works in a field-based environment, conducting inspections of telecommunications construction projects across multiple locations. It requires regular travel to job sites and exposure to varying outdoor conditions, including weather, active construction zones, traffic, noise, and uneven terrain. Some office work is also required for documentation, reporting, and coordination with internal teams and contractors. The role involves frequent interaction with employees, contractors, customers, and other stakeholders, and may occasionally require flexibility outside of standard business hours to support project needs.
