The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including staff management, program development, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff members. Create and maintain staff schedules to ensure proper classroom coverage.
- Maintain compliance with all licensing, accreditation, and health/safety regulations.
- Develop and implement educational programs that align with state standards and best practices.
- Build strong relationships with families, maintain open communication and address concerns promptly.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
- Oversee enrollment (including prospective client tours), billing, budgeting and other administrative tasks to ensure efficient operations.
- Use Company goals and weekly financial reports to measure performance.
- Plan and facilitate family events, workshops, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Act as a resource for parents, providing guidance on child development and parenting topics.
- Ensure the center provides a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children and staff.
- Implement and monitor health and safety policies, including emergency procedures.
- Promote the center through marketing efforts to maintain and grow enrollment.
- Serve as the primary representative of the center within the local community.
- Build partnerships with community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders.
- Manage and complete ad hoc assignments using strong problem-solving skills.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times in relations with colleagues and clients.
- Follow and support Company management values.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Experience in a leadership role in a daycare or early childhood education setting.
- Strong knowledge of child development principles and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Knowledge of compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements for daycare centers.
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with others.
- Maintain physical, mental and emotional well-being required to care for young children.

- Ability to stand, walk, and move about the classroom and playground for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry children up to 40 lbs as needed.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and sitting on the floor to engage children at their level.
- Ability to physically react quickly for child safety purposes.
- Manual dexterity to handle small objects, write, and complete daily activities with children
- Clear speech and hearing for effective communication with children, parents, and staff.
- Visual ability to monitor children’s activities, ensuring their safety.
- Capability to perform light cleaning and organizing duties, including moving furniture and toys.
- Maintain physical, mental and emotional well-being required to care for young children.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent odors, which could be the result of cleaning products, food preparation, children’s activities or other typical workplace conditions.
